Question 35
The world is falling apart. Where is God in all this?

People look at the news and say the whole world is falling apart. Here’s how one believer answered that, and it’s right on:
“The last sentence of Rev 19:10 tells us just how important Bible prophecy is and Isa 46:10 tells us that our Lord wants us to understand it because when we do we can see Him moving all throughout history as He is today. You're correct people who look around and say it's all falling apart don't understand as you've just stated, it is in fact all falling into place just as He has promised it would. 2 Ch 7:14 instructs us all how we can save our nations but even if not, in the end God wins and all will be made new.”
It’s falling into place
Jesus told us ahead of time what it would look like. “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6). Paul said the same: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come” (2 Timothy 3:1).
And He told us why He said it early: “And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe” (John 14:29). The bad news on TV doesn’t catch God off guard. He called it.
Why prophecy matters
The last sentence of Revelation 19:10 says it: “for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Prophecy is about Jesus.
God wants us to understand it. He’s the One “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isaiah 46:10). “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). When you know what He said, you can see Him moving all through history, and you can see Him moving today.
What we can do
God gave us the way to save a nation: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
But even if not, God wins in the end. “Behold, I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5). So when it gets dark, Jesus says, “look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28).
Say it like this
“It’s not falling apart. It’s falling into place. Jesus said there’d be wars and rumors of wars, and He told us before it happened so we’d believe when we saw it. God knows the end from the beginning. If His people humble themselves and pray, He’ll heal the land. And either way, God wins, and He makes all things new.”
“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).
